Welcome to the Richard Hardie Peugeot Glossary. With car manufacturers often using different words to mean the same thing, or employing the use of brand-specific terms and phrases that aren’t used anywhere else, it can be difficult keeping track of what exactly is on offer. We know just how confusing that can be, and we think buying a car should be an exciting and accessible experience for all. With that in mind, here is a handy list of Peugeot-specific terms and their definitions, that you may or may not recognise, to ensure you’re always in the know when it comes to Peugeot!

BlueHDi Diesel Engines (BHDi) 

Delivering exceptional fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions, BlueHDi is a range of engines from Peugeot, combining the latest technology and many years of diesel heritage to create something innovative and unique. The engines harness a three-stage cleansing process that removes hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide for a clean, powerful and responsive motoring experience.

Efficient Automatic Transmission (EAT6) 

EAT6 is the latest range of gearbox technology, that harnesses the power and convenience of Quickshift technology for economy, efficiency and a silky smooth operation at all times.

Grip Control

Grip Control is Peugeot’s advanced traction control system, which delivers a new level of power and control behind the wheel. Traction is optimised for each individual situation for both front wheels, with Standard, Snow, All-Terrain, Sand and ESP modes available. The result is a 4x4-esque level of grip and safety on the road in all conditions.

Hybrid4 Technology 

Hybrid4 is a multi-driving mode powertrain developed by Peugeot, combining cutting edge diesel engine tech with an electric motor, delivering the very best of both worlds. Choose between ZEV - zero emissions and full electric, AUTO and SPORT which combine the two motors to varying degrees, and a 4WD (four-wheel drive) mode, all at the flick of a dial, even when you’re on the road.

Just Add Fuel (JAF) 

Combining several aspects of the car purchasing process into one easy payment, Just Add Fuel does exactly what it says on the tin. This innovative finance package includes three years insurance, three years warranty, three years servicing, three years car tax AND three years roadside assistance, all in one easy, competitively priced, fixed monthly payment; It’s the simplest way to get on the road!

Passport (PCP)

Passport is Peugeot’s own version of PCP finance, meaning if you’d like to renew your car every three years, and have maximum flexibility over your repayments, this is the finance for you. With a low initial rental deposit, an estimated annual mileage, a flexible length of payment/monthly payment amount and three options when the term is over, you have complete control over your financing with Passport.

Peugeot Connect SOS and Assistance

A special line of Peugeot Connect technology that focuses on safety and accident recovery, an installed SIM card allows for an instant and automatic connection to emergency services. In situations where emergency services are not required, the Assistance button connects you straight to the Peugeot Control Centre.

Peugeot Connect Systems

An in-car technology suite that makes every journey safe and entertaining, Peugeot Connect Systems account for audio, multimedia and navigation solutions found within the range of Peugeot cars. From the music and video entertainment systems, to GPS satellite navigation, to Bluetooth connectivity, Peugeot Connect ensures your journeys are as enjoyable as can be.

Peugeot Mirror Screen

Mirror Screen allows you to plug in your smartphone and share its screen to the dashboard display, allowing you to safely and easily control apps via the vehicle controls. Harnessing the power of Apple’s CarPlay and Android’s MirrorLink, Mirror Screen is the best way to enjoy the features of your smartphone while on the move.

PureTech (PT) Engines 

Smaller engines, better economy, drive and performance far beyond the norm for their size; there are a whole host of reasons Peugeot’s PureTech engine range won the 2015 and 2016 International Engine of the Year Awards for both 1.0 litre and 1.4 litre versions. A direct fuel injection system combined with lightweight yet equally robust materials, ensures every drive is exciting and efficient.
