The New Fiat 500X – The Ultimate SUV Crossover

Posted on:

Fiat's first ever crossover; the 500X, is the ultimate crossover for those who want a retro style SUV vehicle...

Fiat is notorious for producing retro Italian cars and their biggest hit to date is the 500, which was released onto the city car market eight years ago. Since then the range has grown with new models being introduced such as the 500L and the 500C, as well as the more recent and much anticipated 500X.

Fiat had no contenders in the ever-growing SUV crossover market until earlier this year when they introduced the new and impressive 500X. The model boasts the perfect combination of price, style, size, fuel efficiency and functionality, broadening its appeal to a wide driving audience.
The five-door SUV is available in three trip options; the City, the Cross and the Cross Plus. Inside all the models still boast the Fiat 500’s unmistakeable retro style, but with an added “big 500” twist in the form of a large 6.5 inch colour touchscreen, improved road visibility and additional legroom and headspace for both the driver and passengers to enjoy.

The 500X is designed to go from city driving and fast flowing country lanes to off the beaten track with ease. Engine types are available in a choice of three diesel options including an 118bhp 1.6L engine, a 93bhp 1.3L engine and a 138bhp 2.0 litres. Alternatively you can opt for the petrol engine, which comes in a 1.4-litre 138bhp. The SUV also offers a choice of three transmissions, including a nine-speed automatic drive and a choice of four or front wheel drive.

The 1.6-litre diesel in the Cross trim is a popular choice for consumers thanks to its combined fuel consumption, that is just short of 70mpg and the CO2 emissions stand at 109g/km. The 1.6 also provides an excellent amount of power and the engines healthy 350Nm of toque hits in the low rev range, giving the car the strength to overtake easily.
