Richard Hardie Durham to Complete Demanding Two Day Coast 2 Coast Challenge

Richard Hardie Durham to Complete Demanding Two Day Coast 2 Coast Challenge

Posted on:

Some of the team at our Durham branch are embarking on a gruelling two day challenge later this month to support and raise money for excellent charities close to their hearts. The team are doing the Coast 2 Coast starting at Whitehaven on the 26th August and finishing the challenge at Sunderland on the 28th August 2016.

The keen cyclists are raising money for Mind, Macmillian Cancer Research and St Cuthberts Hospice, all of which are amazing charities and have helped support their families during the toughest of times.

Bryan Walker, Parts Supervisor from Durham, has been preparing for the Coast to Coast by going out on his bike during his lunch break for a short 10 mile ride! Bryan explained his reasons for doing the C2C, “I am doing the C2C on behalf of my Niece Nicola who sadly passed away last year, my choosing charity is Mind. Training is hard but enjoyable squeezing it in between long hours at work and looking after 2 young children spending many lunch breaks doing a quick 10 miler. I have received fantastic support from friends, family and sponsors and would like to thank my employers, Richard Hardie, for allowing me a weekend off to participate.”

Paul Watson, Parts Advisor, who is also participating in the tough West to East Coast to Coast describes why he is taking part: “I am doing the C2C for Macmillan Cancer Research. This is a charity which is close to my heart having family members who have suffered and sadly passed away from cancer; the care they receive from Macmillan is amazing. I have been training hard for this and I’m looking forward to the C2C.”

Robert Walker, Garage Technician, is keen to ensure he is at his fittest in order to complete the course, he explains, “I am doing the C2C for St Cuthbert’s Hospice based in Durham. This is a brilliant organisation that helps people during their final moments in life, making it the best it can be. I have trained every day for this event and hope to raise loads of money for this great cause. It has also been a lifelong ambition of mine to do the C2C.”

The youngest of the group, Jordan Young who is Durham’s Car Valeter and Driver, is looking forward to the challenge, “I am doing the C2C for St Cuthbert’s Hospice; I have not done much training but being the youngest and most handsome of the party hopefully that will get me to the finish!”

We have every bit of faith that our team at Durham will complete the challenge with flying colours. If you would like to show your support and help push them to their peak, you can donate to the following pages:
