Fiat’s Eagerly Anticipated Two-Seat Roadster is Now at Richard Hardie

Iconic retro styling combined with sleek, modern desirability: the dazzling new Fiat 124 Spider two-seater roadster and Abarth 124 performance roadster are now available from Richard Hardie.

Design-wise the new Fiat model pays homage to the classic Fiat 124 Sport Spider which made its debut back in 1966, while underneath there’s a new perfectly-weighted chassis featuring a longitudinal front engine and rear-wheel-drive.

There’s also an all-new Abarth 124 Spider, based on the Abarth 124 Rally that hit the road back in 1972.

Prices for the Fiat 124 Spider start from £19,545, while the red-hot Abarth 124 Spider is available from £29,565.

Fiat 124 Trims & Specifications

In Fiat form, the 124 Spider is available with 3 luxurious trim choices: Classica, costing £19,545 Lusso, costing £22,295 and Lusso Plus, costing £23,295.

The starting point of the range, the Fiat 124 Spider Classica comes with a 3” radio with Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control and keyless entry, while classy styling features include a leather steering wheel and gear knob and 16” alloy wheels.

Up one notch, you get the Fiat 124 Spider Lusso, with all the features boasted by the Classica trim as well as a state-of-the-art 7” infotainment system with integrated sat-nav, a rear parking camera and 17” alloy wheels.

The flagship of the range, the Fiat 124 Lusso Plus adds adaptive LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, auto wipers and lights and a BOSE stereo system with 9 speakers.

Fiat 124 Engine & Performance

Under the distinctive domed bonnet of the Fiat 124 Spider, you’ll find a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine boasting 140bhp. It’s capable of 0-62mph in a nippy 7.5 seconds, with top speeds of 134mph. In terms of economy, the 124 Spider achieves 44.1mpg while emitting 148g/km of C02. A six-speed manual gearbox sends power to the rear-wheels; combined with a lightweight chassis, this makes for exciting, agile handling and complete control even at higher speeds.

Abarth 124 Spider Engine & Performance

The Abarth adds stand-out two tone styling to the 124 design, along with a tuned-up version of the 1.4-litre petrol, capable of producing 170bhp taking performance figures up to 0-62mph with no effect on economy or emissions. It also adds a limited-slip differential to maximise rear wheel grip. The Abarth 124 Spider is also available with an automatic gearbox.

Both versions come with a host of advanced safety features.

124 Spider Critical Reviews

“There’s no denying Fiat has built a terrific sports car that takes all the MX-5’s good points and adds a certain Italian flair.” – Auto Express

“The Fiat 124 Spider is stylish and quick roadster that’s great to drive. It harks back to the golden age of Italian convertibles, with a modern dash of usability and safety.” – Carbuyer

“The 124 Spider is good-looking (better in the flesh than in pictures), probably more pleasant and solidly constructed inside than any other contemporary Fiat (sharing Mazda’s superior infotainment system is a big bonus) and drives with the sort of even-tempered, assertive aplomb that makes most open-top alternatives seem stodgy by comparison.” – Autocar

“It’s a blissfully coherent and intense drive. As well as a bundle of all those old sentiments around Italian style and racing. I lust.” – Top Gear on the Abarth 124 Spider.

“The 124 Spider is a proper halo car for one of the motoring world’s most characterful car tuning brands. Welcome back Abarth.” – Auto Express
